Alarm Salad Koala [BB330]
Swap all 3’s in each trio with the same three letters (in the same order) to spell common words. 3SO, S3M, TU3, say, equals TORSO, STORM, TUTOR. While 3RM, S3D, KO3 would give ALARM, KOALA, SALAD. Can you unravel these eight, and maybe concoct a trio of your own in the Comments for others to crack?

Nice puzzle, David. #8 and #4 were my stumbling blocks, but I got there. By way of confirmation, the middle letters anagram to a word whose last three letters are usually omitted.
Here's a few more, hopefully approachable and not cooked. To restrict the possibilities further, the middle letters again anagram to a word. (Well... so do the first letters, but that was happenstance.)
9. 3ST, S3W, NA3
10. 3ES, S3K, SU3
11. 3ME, O3R, LI3
12. 3YS, R3D, GL3
13. 3UT, A3T, DI3
14. 3EL, W3Y, CR3
15. 3VE, I3T, LO3
16. 3ER, H3Y, TO3

Thankyou David and Geoff for your puzzles. Good challenge: CVC? CCV? etc. English or non English derivation.
And LOL Geoff. Very clever for the 3 anagrams.
I found where to find the salad - twice - and an apt description. Some happenstance!

could extend I s'pose to eg the fairly obvious
4TY, W4T, SL4
JPR — 02 October at 08:17PM
probably also easy:
5EN, D5T, TH5

JPR: When the length gets longer, so do the options to consider, which should make things harder. (I did solve your 5, though by guessing it would be a variant (of sorts) of your 4. If you see what I mean. Not sure how hard it would have been otherwise.)
