Holy Hybrids [BB283]

untitled Meshing surnames looms as a newlywed craze. Hence Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may blend to be Crolmes – or Huise. Un-mesh these other surnames to identify the well-known contemporary couples implicated – some of whom have since come to grief. (While in the case of a few others, you wish they would!) Enjoy this most sacred occasion.

I'm surprised you didn't include the recently seperated Coquette.

Mauve — 08 November at 11:41AM

Clangle's my fave.

and re susurrus, an 8-letter word - are there any 9-letter words that only use 3 letters?

DA — 08 November at 12:41PM

Good question Mauve - I'm sure our collective mind can nominate a few takers. Anyone?

SK — 08 November at 01:51PM

Is the challenge ANY 9 letter word, or does it have to be a name combo a la the challenge theme?

If not I nominate STREETERS

SK — 08 November at 02:01PM

Oops....can't count. Retract.....

SK — 08 November at 02:14PM

Could short exams be called TESTETTES? (clutching at straws here)

Mauve — 08 November at 03:12PM

Apart from Ceepeecee and Analalana, which are place names, and Essegesse, also a proper noun for a group of people, the only word I could come up with was

sassarara: A word used to emphasize a statement

Couldn't find any common or non-novelty words though

SK — 08 November at 04:22PM

It's a shame David Letterman isn't dating Kathy Lette...

Mr X — 08 November at 04:53PM

Berry is a pretty good current example.

Mr X — 08 November at 05:10PM

WARNING - SPOILER ALERT
Ok, here are my guesses at the occupations of the various couple members. Some are multi-talented & I've just picked one of their fields of endeavour:
1. Business/Modelling
2. Politics/Writing
3. Sport/Sport
4. Acting/Sport
5. Acting/Acting
6. Real Estate/Royalty
7. Acting/Acting
8. Acting/Comedy
9. Acting/Acting
10. Sport/Modelling
11. Comedy/Modelling
12. Comedy/Comedy
13. Acting/Acting
14. Music(?)/Sport

DA — 08 November at 05:13PM

Berry? Pranking/lip syncing

Mauve — 08 November at 06:25PM

or lip syncing with another "girl and she liked it"

Mr X — 08 November at 07:01PM

Spot on.

DA2 — 11 November at 09:43AM

Tete-a-tete?

Mauve — 11 November at 11:01AM

or Accadacca - a popular Aussie hard rock outfit

Would Letters and Numbers accept tete-a-tete? So far, that's the only commonly used word/expression anyone's been able to find, which puts sussurus in rarefied air. With what other 8-letter words? Any?

Mr X — 11 November at 11:03AM

An 8 letter one:

Deseeded
