Stormathon Update 2

index Quick splash of admin before the end-game plays out properly. First a point well made by Air Con in the last leg – please abstain from voting if most of the players have not filed their final clue lists. (To that end, get your six gems on show by 9pm tonight, when voting can begin with impunity, and through all of Friday.)

Second, in answer to Cicada’s query: if you have fallen from the clueing stakes, then by all means lodge a vote. This contest is called a Stomathon for good reason, and I know the challenge demands a lot of time and grey cells. But no reason you shouldn’t still enjoy the creative skillz, and tell us where your loyalties lie.

(Of course, the ultimate winner will most likely be a four-legged player, so to speak – to salute those who have done the acrobatic yards.)

So who’s stolen points from Leg #3. In summery summary, this lot:

Bronze to Gidget for a geopolitical BAHAMAS: U.S. neighbour attacks; Obama has nothing to lose

Gold shared by Mozzie for a melodic CENSOR…: Arrange score to include new edit

…and G&T for a novel tuckshop OLDIE: Chestnut withheld from school diet

Don’t despair if you have yet to claim a scalp along the way. While it is an advantage to take into the end-game, Cadel swooped in the time trial to swamp those Scheck boys.

Re the final set of clues for the Storm’s four mystery words, with one gleaned per leg, please send these direct to my inbox before Saturday at 10pm – or any time sooner – allowing me to amass the tally and announce our stage and overall winners in the arvo.

Quick Q - Saturday at 10am (allowing you to amass tally and announce that arvo) or Saturday at 10pm for Sunday arvo?

Air Conditioning — 15 December at 01:34PM

And I may as well lodge a definite correction, as I am an avid Tour de France follower, it's Schleck with an 'l'. No biggie.

This has been a fabulous (and seriously addictive) exercise, and the quality has been great from all. It's interesting to see what floats people's boats...while taking nothing away from the popular picks, there have been a number of clues from different players that surprised me in not getting more votes. And while I'm tickled pink (favourite colour of this surfie chick) to receive your votes for my BAHAMAS, I was personally prouder of 2 or 3 other clues...but I think that only points to the high quality of ideas from all players.

G&T — 16 December at 12:44PM

Thanks also DA - been an enjoyably gruelling marathon. Nice to share the podium with a mozzie censor!

DA - Do you want us to submit our final four with the wordplay explained to save time, or or let the clues stand, or fall, alone?

Shark Biscuit — 16 December at 01:36PM

Yes thank you DA. It is hard wading through all the clues, no matter how well-organised they are.

We appreciate the diversion...although for Gidget it appears to not be a diversion - it's the main game.

JPR — 17 December at 12:52PM

hmmm not so sure about 'edit' = 'censor' .... but no biggie as cyc[l]ists wld say
