Toss & Tweak

untitled Nib, a regular Dabbler, sent along a puzzle this week where solvers had to toss one letter, then change another, to create new word. Among his examples were BARQUE turning into ARGUE, or FRACAS becoming RACKS. A simple formula, and a catchy one too. Ever since I’ve been dreaming up a few more specimens, convinced there must be some gems to find, using the same recipe.

Supplied the mother word, then the missing word’s solution, can you Toss & Tweak this list to find the seven answers? Feel free to share your answers, or other variations, in the Comments.

Example: Perjury – neediness = PENURY

  1. Shilling – relative
  2. Pasture – sharp
  3. Bandied – open
  4. Written – twist
  5. Quilt – fit
  6. Campsite – flip
  7. Rafting – voluptuous

(Can you toss & tweak your own examples? Must be some rippers to find.)

by all means DA. i'm afraid Morecroft was just too unworkable, there might be something out there but it eludes me...unless you break it up into "More-crafty=>Morecroft". but i don't feel as though that accurately portrays his part in the program.
