Clues of Summer 4

12 April, 2011

Penultimate hurdle in the race to solve the Clues of Summer. Today we face another six zingers, all pulled from UK papers – with Paul of The Guardian scoring two mentions. He clearly is a [Answer 5] compiler. And so you may prove to be, cobbling your own clue for the seventh word lurking in these six answers' initials. Invent a clue, using the forum for feedback, and file your best by late Thursday, when this summer series concludes.

  1. Composer’s triteness amazing? Not entirely, in retrospect (8) [Times 8950]

  2. Lavish living brought about endless ruin (11) [Times 8934]

  3. Work time not well organised (6,5) [Times 8932]

  4. Early stages in thought (7) [Paul]

  5. Outstanding geography lesson? (5-5) [Paul again]

  6. Fine for American resulting from conclusions of grand jury (5) [Times 8938]
