Alternate Musicians

Here’s a piece of brain candy from the prolific puzzlers over at Puzzability. The original idea was to present the odd or even letters of a well-known muso, or singer, such as Sheryl Crow (SEYCO), or Frank Sinatra (RNSNTR). You get the drift, right?
Well let’s modify the formula. Let’s see who can find:
(a) a word using this technique, plucking out the odds (or evens) or musical acts, including soloists and bands; and
(b) who can jumble the odds (or evens) into a word, all the more impressive if the word can somehow relate to the source, as amplified in a sentence.
A rough-and-ready go –
A) Journey > ORE
Ke$ha > EH? (Yep, this is a tough feat…!)
B) Otis Redding > TENDS (He tends to be included among the top 20 blues artists.)
Elvis Presley > SERVES (He serves a vital role to retro lovers.)
An EMI contract for anything vaguely lyrical.
