Ballet Battle
23 May, 2014
As a piece of mental chewing gum to help enliven a Friday, let’s dabble with doubles. Choose a word that holds a double letter, such as FERRET. Then reduce that double to a single, as you double another letter instead, so making FETTER in this case. Then make a clue:
Shackle burrower = FETTER FERRET
Swan Lake slamdown = BALLET BATTLE
T-t-topics = STAMMER MATTERS
Ensure you possess a double in each example, hence SUPPER RUPEES is kosher, but not PURSUE SUPPER. No need to supply word length. Let’s play:
DA1 – Mad cat
DA2 – Swallow stump?
DA3 – Fish tool
DA4 – Licking monster
DA5 – Noticing rock
DA6 – Top-level graffitist?
Post your answers – and your own Doctored Doubles – in the Comments.
