Salon 34
2 July, 2012
Good morning Dabblers – and welcome to a normal week, let’s hope. (And by normal I mean a glitch-free meander of twisted wordplay, whimsical forums, and some knowhow sharing.) With nary a blogjam, media tremor or network axe in cooee. I’d be grateful, if nobody else.
Speaking of an axe – before I declare Salon 34 open for biz – I’d love some help with two clues. I came upon an historical Anax last week and hit a rock with a pair of 8s. Both end in E, and they read this way:
Becoming active but not ultimate setter (8)
Man, bishop, attending nurses (8)
Any insights, theories or straight-out solutions would be manna. As for other crosswords coming, you will bowl over today’s Times in a canter, if that’s not mixing sports. While the true nature of puzzles looming – in the G & Oz – lies with Nostradamus, or Anthony. Have fun.
