Toss & Tweak
11 August, 2011
Nib, a regular Dabbler, sent along a puzzle this week where solvers had to toss one letter, then change another, to create new word. Among his examples were BARQUE turning into ARGUE, or FRACAS becoming RACKS. A simple formula, and a catchy one too. Ever since I’ve been dreaming up a few more specimens, convinced there must be some gems to find, using the same recipe.
Supplied the mother word, then the missing word’s solution, can you Toss & Tweak this list to find the seven answers? Feel free to share your answers, or other variations, in the Comments.
Example: Perjury – neediness = PENURY
- Shilling – relative
- Pasture – sharp
- Bandied – open
- Written – twist
- Quilt – fit
- Campsite – flip
- Rafting – voluptuous
(Can you toss & tweak your own examples? Must be some rippers to find.)
